Welcome to Children’s Bright Beginnings

Family Owned and Operated for Over 35 Years

Children’s Bright Beginnings is an early learning center whose programs focus on the development of the whole child, including social, emotional, cognitive, physical, language, and creative skills. With our warm and welcoming classrooms, and our experienced, loving teachers, we allow children to learn and develop at their own pace, all within safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environments.

Through our carefully planned, developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities, our philosophy at Children’s Bright Beginnings is to ensure your child is learning through a variety of experiences, including experimentation, hands-on activities, and play. We base our classroom lessons on your child’s specific needs, including their individual interests and learning style, as well as the level of development that allows your child to thrive.

FAQ’S

What does it mean to be a family owned and operated child care center?

Children’s Bright Beginnings is first and foremost centered around making each child’s Pre-K experience the best it can be. We were started over 35 years ago by a mother-daughter pair, Barbara Gotter and Patty Belmont, who are both dedicated to instilling a love of learning and sense of curiosity in young children.

Currently CBB has two classes, split into 2-3 and 4-5 year olds. Because of our size, we operate like a large “family” and provide children with individualized care as much as possible.

It’s also incredibly important to create a cohesive learning environment for the children, so we ensure that the rest of the staff shares our values of warmth, love, patience, attentiveness, and respect toward children.

Where are you located?

Children’s Bright Beginnings is located on the lower level of 8944 Austin Ave, in Morton Grove.

While we’re on the lower level, we get natural light in both classrooms and go outside most days, weather permitting. We also have an on-site playground, an area to ride bikes and scooters, and participate in outdoor water activities in the summer!

What’s included in weekly tuition?

The cost of weekly tuition covers the following (we also accept Action for Children for qualifying families):

  • Care from kind, well-trained teachers from 7 am to 5:30 pm
  • Daily meals, including lunch and two snacks (in the morning and afternoon)
  • An extensive variety of engaging and unique materials, toys, art supplies, etc.
  • Use of both indoor and outdoor gym equipment
  • Enrichment activities, such as story-time visits from a local librarian

If we have on-site field trips or performers come to CBB, an extra fee will be charged for your child to participate.

How many meals are served per day?

We serve lunch every day, as well as a morning and afternoon snack. Morning snack is served around 9:30 am, lunch around 12 pm, and afternoon snack around 3:30 pm.

We are happy to provide you with a sample menu upon request.

How is the day structured for children?

Both of our pre-school classes follow a daily routine because a consistent daily schedule and step-by-step routine give your child a predictable day. When children feel safe, secure, and comfortable, they are ready to learn!

The morning consists of outdoor play time, music, circle time, and learning centers. Lunch is served around 12 pm each day, followed by a 2-hour nap/rest period. An afternoon snack is then served after nap time, and the rest of the day is spent engaged in enrichment and free choice activities.

How do you transition new children into the program?

The transition of your child into a CBB program is very important to the success of their time at our center, therefore, we work with each family to decide on the best transition plan for the child.

First, we arrange time for your child to visit with one parent for 30-45 minutes. Then, if necessary, the child will visit with or without a parent for longer periods of time over several days, building up to the child staying by themselves for a half day. The transition plan is dependent on the child’s needs, and we look forward to making the experience as comfortable as possible for everyone involved!

Is it possible to visit the program?

Yes, we welcome prospective families to come see our programs in action! If you would like to set up a tour, please call us at 847-965-1003 (or email?)

We typically offer tours during our operating hours, between 7 am and 5:30 pm M-F.

“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I can't say enough wonderful things about CBB. After trying out 2 other preschools, we hit the jackpot with CBB. What my daughter (age 4 at the time, she's going to be 5 soon) learned in a few months at CBB was more than what she learned at the two other places combined. In addition, the staff is awesome. They know how to work with the kids and encourage creativity and create a fun learning environment. I wish we would have found CBB SO much sooner. The director and staff are willing to work with individual family situations, especially after Covid-19 hit with compassion and knowledge. They know their stuff!”
